The Gladiators Group Is a family based non-profit group established in July 2011 in Houston, Texas and was inspired by all the children and families we met on the pediatric oncology ward of Texas Children’s Hospital. Our mission is to build a community dedicated to raising awareness and supporting children and families affected by a pediatric cancer diagnosis. Our aim is to make ‘the journey’ a little easier by providing some smiles along the way.
Past projects have been:
- Sponsoring children each month at Texas Children’s Hospital to receive a pair of personalised Peach’s Neet Feet (personalized, hand-painted Converse)
- GladPad Project Raising money to donate TCH Infusion Rooms and BMT Unit with iPads
- Memory and legacy book making on the pediatric oncology floor.
Since relocating back to Perth Western Australia in April 2013 we have focused our support on Ward 3B at Princess Margaret Hospital. Our first project has been ‘Gladiator Goodies’ for which we collect and deliver donations of toys for children and siblings on the ward. This is possible through the generous donations from our incredible supporters. We are always in need of donated toys 🙂
We have been so grateful for the support of our friends and local community but in an effort to expand our network, raise more awareness and streamline support for the ward, so that we can better cater to the families needs, we are delighted to now run this project for the Kids Cancer Support Group, in order to further support and enhance the wonderful work that they already do.
We also like to support those who are there in the front line supporting the kids. That’s why we have started a new Gladiator Essentials trolley that visits the ward every couple of weeks to give something to the parents and carers on the ward. It’s our way of showing how much we love them and for them to know that there are others there to support them.
If you would like to donate items to our Essentials trolley some suggestions are below.
