Dad’s Day Out – February 2017 – Fishing Charter

The angels were looking down on the 3B Dads on Sunday, 19 February 2017 for the first Dad’s Day Out Fishing Charter. The sun was shining and the water was crystal clear and smoothingly calm.

It was a successful day – both for fishing and for 3B Dads to meet and connect with fellow 3B Dads. Dads face a unique experience when their child is undergoing treatment. Often they are the one who continues to work to keep the family financial. They will also find themselves playing the role of both parents while mum is in the hospital with the child having treatment. There are limited opportunities to meet other dads going through what they are and many lose friendships along the way due to the stresses and time pressures of treatment.

Dads that attend the KCSG Dads Day Out events get to meet other dads who understand the experience of having a child diagnosed with cancer. It gives them an opportunity to connect and develop a support network with each other – and share some laughs and banter along the way!

The Fishing Charter was no different, and most of our attendees have already exchanged contact details for future support!

We can’t thank Des and the Committee from Mandurah Offshore Fishing and Sailing Club enough for what they offered these dads. They have been long time supporters of 3B families. We would also like to thank all the other businesses who kindly donated towards the day.

Make sure you keep an eye out for our future Dad’s Day Out events planned for later in the year. You won’t regret it.
